Unknown encoding 'gb2312'

Post by doppiaemme » 14 Jan 2010 12:55

Hi all,

this morning when I tried to have a look at the Quarantine list I got this error:

Code: Select all

Software error:

Unknown encoding 'gb2312' at /home/httpd/cgi-bin/copfilter_status.cgi line 93
I looked on google at cached Copfilter forum and I saw some users had this problem before due to dodgy encoded mails.
I haven't found a solution though.... Probably if I delete all the mails in

/var/log/copfilter/default/opt/proxsmtp/quarantine

I could temporarily work around this error but the next time I receive a spam like that I would get that the same....

Version: 0.84beta4, IPCop 1.4.21

any clue???

thanks a lot

massimo

Hi doppiaemme!

This problem is known a few time and I wrote a fix to solve this.

Please try and report!

download: http://www.it-connect-unix.de/copfilter ... fix.tar.gz
md5sum: b1049b818d1e3584a04a948f8ed8a64e

Code: Select all

tar xzf copfilter_status_cgi_fix.tar.gz
cd copfilter_status_cgi_fix
./install

Thanks Karesmakro,

It looks fine so far, even though I don't know if any of those dodgy spam emails have been received.

Do you know if these bugfixes are being kept and added to a new release of Copfilter?

At the moment I had to install some extra fixes to the standard 0.84beta4 to have a working system:

-copfilter_iXhash_update_1.55
-copfilter_status_cgi_fix
-send_q_mail_fix

I also had the YEAR 2010 bug, I tried the ruleset-update fix but it didn't work.
I solved it following the mirrors' update mentioned here:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=14&sid=b121b816db4c ... 4f0b72#p89

It would be interesting to know if all these little things will be integrated into a future release.

Hi doppiaemme,

I also had the YEAR 2010 bug,
the *bugs* you mentioned are not all reallly bugs, especially not of copfilter. Of iXhash was released a new version: It sure will be integrated in next copfilter version, but the older version in current release is not a bug. For the year 2010 problem and the issue caused by the *MIRRORED.BY* file spamassassin is the culprit. It could be fixed by simply deleting the *MIRRORED.BY* file and a manually rules_du_jour update. The problem with the _status.cgi showed up with users in far east using japanese or chinese fonts and should be fixed in next version. Same for send_q_mail.
